The regional government has received 11 bids for the drafting of the basic project and necessary technical documentation for the future expansion of the CV-95 between Orihuela and Torrevieja. This contract, which was put out to tender in April, represents a vital step towards the eventual execution of a strategic infrastructure project aimed at improving mobility across the Vega Baja region.
The primary objective of this phase is to technically define the works, study various alternatives for improving the road, and design the concession model that will govern the public works at a later date. Following the deadline for submissions on May 14th, the administrative files were opened yesterday, Monday.
Of the 11 proposals received, eight have been submitted by temporary business unions (UTEs), while three companies are bidding independently. The list of contenders includes top-tier engineering firms and consultants specialising in auditing, risk management, and tax advice.
The Vice President and Minister for Infrastructure, Vicente Martínez Mus, welcomed the high level of business interest. He stated that the involvement of prestigious engineering firms is “extremely important” and ensures that the project will benefit from a highly qualified designer.
The contract is valued at 1.3 million euro and includes a feasibility study and the contractual structure for the future concession. This project is considered a priority for the regional government, with the total investment for the expansion estimated to be around 180 million euro. The work aims to increase road capacity and safety on what is currently one of the most congested routes in the area, connecting the inland municipality of Orihuela with the coastal town of Torrevieja.
