National Police officers have arrested three men aged 19, 26, and 58 in the Alicante town of Altea for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking and membership of a criminal group, following the dismantling of a cannabis club allegedly used as a retail drug sale point.
The investigation began after officers became aware of the existence of a possible cannabis club on premises in Altea. According to information received, a large number of people were allegedly visiting the establishment to purchase narcotic substances without needing to be members of the association, National Police said in a statement.
Initial enquiries focused on verifying the ownership of the premises, the individuals responsible for the association, and the relevant authorisation permits for the lawful activity for which it was supposedly created. Officers established that the association was registered in the Register of Associations of the Generalitat Valenciana.
Following surveillance and tracking operations, investigators were able to determine that the alleged indiscriminate sale of narcotic substances was being made to anyone who arrived to purchase them, without needing to be a member of the association. Most of the buyers were foreign tourists visiting the town.
Once all the evidence was gathered, a search entry was carried out at the establishment after being authorised by a judicial warrant. Judicial Police and Public Safety officers from the Benidorm Police Station took part, with the support of the Adscribed Unit to the Valencian Community of the National Police during the inspection.

As a result of the search, three people were arrested, including the secretary of the association. Officers seized 4,285 grams of marijuana buds, 1,439 grams of hashish, 12 grams of hashish resin, 164 marijuana cigarettes, and 1,940 euro.
Following the completion of police proceedings, the detainees were placed at the disposal of the duty courts of instruction in Benidorm.
